You Can’t Remove all Sadness from Life

I recently read somewhere...”One of the simplest ways to stay happy is to let go of all the things that make you sad.”
We all know this, right?  It’s so much easier said than done.

What if the things that are making you sad can’t be let go?

It makes me sad when I think of those less fortunate. If I just let that go how is that being helpful? I can however think of small ways to help. Last year I bought gloves to hand out to any cold hands that took the offer.
What about that we can’t change the fact that people die and leave this earth. We can, however, know that the person that passed on wouldn’t want us to be sad and dwell on his/her death.
Sometimes relationships end and that makes us sad, too. Try not thinking about someone you’ve loved and lived with for the majority of your lifetime. The reality is that person has spent more days with you than the family he/she was born into ever will.
So, yes, it’s easy to SAY let go of things that make us sad but the reality is, we can’t always do that.

So, do something about what makes you sad when you can and if you can’t let go; perhaps you CAN just let it be.

I Start my Day with Lemon Water

We all want our days to go well.  How do we achieve this?  Start your day on a positive note and set your good intentions for the day ahead. Breathe goodness into your day right away. may wake up and your back is sore from sleeping funny; or your head is focused on the negativity you feel dragging you down in one way or another.  Stop.  Listen to your body and quiet the demons in your head. You have the key to this day’s happiness. Find it. Keep it on an imaginary keychain you place near the space you wake.  For me it’s lemon water!  I start my day with lemon water!  This is how I know it’s going to be a good one!

You Only Have One Life...Choose Wisely!

“Sometimes the people around you won’t understand your journey.  They don’t need to, it’s not for them.” - Joubert Botha
Every person should take time to reflect on what they really want out of life.  Many want only what they think they are supposed to want. Many people spend their entire lives following the conventions of society and end up unhappy and wondering...”Is this all there is?” You must make the time to sit with yourself and really think what it is you want out of life.  Have you had big dreams, but thought that they were out of reach? What do you want to accomplish? How can you make a difference in others’ lives?
Identifying exactly what will give your life meaning will take time and is subject to change as you grow wiser.  You have the power to change your life and really live!  Emerson said “Dare to live the life you have dreamed of for yourself.”
Step 1. Think.  Reflect. Step 2. Identify YOUR dreams. Step 3. Take action. Society is messed up!

Writing Isn’t Just for Real Writers!

What is a “real” writer anyway? I am and I’m not. I like to write and I hate to write. I’ve always enjoyed writing for my own entertainment. Diary/ journal entries, stories; real or imaginary.  Writing for school assignments as a student and as a teacher never brought me joy.  When I’m writing for my own enjoyment there’s no judgement; fear removed.  Writing because I had to brought me stress.  My dad always encouraged me to write. Before he passed away in 2015 I finished my first children’s book that sits in my writing bag. Unpublished. Why?  Just like the assigned writing projects; fear and judgement.  I’m sorry dad for not writing the way you encouraged me to, but this daily blog is my way of honoring you.  So...I encourage all of you to write, too, if you enjoy it.  Whether you or I consider ourselves writers; if we enjoy it, we should do it!
