People Spill...

I found myself racing to pick up the nuts I accidentally spilled on the living room carpet so I wouldn’t get into trouble. You’re not supposed to eat outside of the kitchen, you know!
I’m 51 years old and it was not intentional!  Do you find your childhood fears sometimes follow you into adulthood? Do you think you have to be perfect?  Do you only have heated family discussions if the windows are closed? It’s crazy!

People spill!

People “spill” in more than one sense of the word!  It’s okay to show your flaws. To “spill” what’s on your heart and mind. To be raw and vulnerable. This actually makes us more acceptable. The “perfect” facade gets old and many of us sure don’t want to only see and hear the highlight reel. None of us should feel less than what we really are which is perfectly imperfect beings.
We are human, we make mistakes. Tell someone...spill it!
As for that unintentional nut spill on the carpet... Well...I missed a nut which was found and mistaken for a bug. Now I’m probably in trouble for letting bugs in the house!

Oops, I just “spilled” my frustration!

I Start my Day with Lemon Water

We all want our days to go well.  How do we achieve this?  Start your day on a positive note and set your good intentions for the day ahead. Breathe goodness into your day right away. may wake up and your back is sore from sleeping funny; or your head is focused on the negativity you feel dragging you down in one way or another.  Stop.  Listen to your body and quiet the demons in your head. You have the key to this day’s happiness. Find it. Keep it on an imaginary keychain you place near the space you wake.  For me it’s lemon water!  I start my day with lemon water!  This is how I know it’s going to be a good one!

You Only Have One Life...Choose Wisely!

“Sometimes the people around you won’t understand your journey.  They don’t need to, it’s not for them.” - Joubert Botha
Every person should take time to reflect on what they really want out of life.  Many want only what they think they are supposed to want. Many people spend their entire lives following the conventions of society and end up unhappy and wondering...”Is this all there is?” You must make the time to sit with yourself and really think what it is you want out of life.  Have you had big dreams, but thought that they were out of reach? What do you want to accomplish? How can you make a difference in others’ lives?
Identifying exactly what will give your life meaning will take time and is subject to change as you grow wiser.  You have the power to change your life and really live!  Emerson said “Dare to live the life you have dreamed of for yourself.”
Step 1. Think.  Reflect. Step 2. Identify YOUR dreams. Step 3. Take action. Society is messed up!

Writing Isn’t Just for Real Writers!

What is a “real” writer anyway? I am and I’m not. I like to write and I hate to write. I’ve always enjoyed writing for my own entertainment. Diary/ journal entries, stories; real or imaginary.  Writing for school assignments as a student and as a teacher never brought me joy.  When I’m writing for my own enjoyment there’s no judgement; fear removed.  Writing because I had to brought me stress.  My dad always encouraged me to write. Before he passed away in 2015 I finished my first children’s book that sits in my writing bag. Unpublished. Why?  Just like the assigned writing projects; fear and judgement.  I’m sorry dad for not writing the way you encouraged me to, but this daily blog is my way of honoring you.  So...I encourage all of you to write, too, if you enjoy it.  Whether you or I consider ourselves writers; if we enjoy it, we should do it!
