I think happiness has become a commodity in today’s society. For example, happiness is something that advertisers say the product they are selling will lead you to. That kind of happiness is fleeting. Maybe buying a new pair of shoes or the newest iphone might make you happy today, but will buying “things” alone allow you to maintain that “happy” feeling? The answer my friend is a resounding NO! I think finding “Meaning” to our lives should be our focus not “finding” a great deal such as a bigger screen TV. Once we find meaning to our lives, a truer or more authentic and lasting happiness will automatically follow. Let’s not think about what we can buy today to give us that temporary euphoria of a new “thing”, but what can we do today to help give our lives more meaning.
Your life’s “Meaning”, may not be what gives my life meaning, but finding your life’s meaning is a worthy endeavor. The payoff will result in the lasting happiness we all seek. Think about what gives meaning to your life.
